Let me guess. You are a busy mom. You love Jesus with all your heart.
Now, let me ask you a question. Do you start off your week with a strong conviction that every day you will have a devotion or quiet time? And then the week goes by and you haven’t even completed the one devotional plans on your Youversion Bible app. The guilt! Omg I have been there. In fact I am there. Trust me I understand. In this article, I’ll share with you my ultimate simple three tips that have helped me spend more time with God as a busy stay-at-home mom. Here are the three things to do everyday to stay connected to God as busy moms.
Why You Should be Connected to God
As followers of Christ, we know how important it is to have a personal relationship with Christ. In fact Christianity is the only religion where relationship is more important that works. We’ve been thought that. And through experience we know that when our relationship with Christ is strong everything else falls in line.
We think more clearly, we discern better and our general mood is lighter.
Our kids benefit from us being the best versions of ourselves.
So how do we ensure that we nurture that relationship with God, spend more time with Him and in His Word while doing all the never-ending mum things that take up all our time? Stay put, I’ll tell you what I do.

First Things First
Aim to do a Weekly devotion instead of daily one.
What I do is, every Sunday I pick a Bible passage that I want to delve more into that week. My choice is usually inspired by what was preached at church that Sunday but not always. The first day, I take 10 minutes to read that passage and write down my thoughts and prayers. The next day I might take the same 10 minutes and read around that passage to kind of understand the context. I’ll write down my thoughts and prayers. The following day, same 10 minutes same passage but this time I’ll ask myself what the lesson there is and how I can apply it to my life. And I’ll build on it each day, so by the time the week is over, I have a deeper understanding of that Bible passage as opposed to skimming through 7 different passages. If that makes sense. Not sure I’ve explained it well. I think I’ll write another Article on my Bible study process and how to get the most out of your study time. Let me know if that’s something you’d be interested in.
In the meantime, here is my Free Weekly Devotional – Serene Mom. It’s tailored to take only 10 minutes a day. It’s got fun tasks for you to do each week and a guided reflection. Share it with your friends and family. Thank me later 🙂

Connect on the Go
I want to say here that, God speaks at all times not just when you stop everything to sit and read and pray. He speaks while you are doing what He has called you to do. Changing nappies, cooking and cleaning. He speaks to you and you can speak to Him too. So don’t let your busy life rob you of this opportunity to know God more intimately.
This is something I do to help me spend more time with God. I’ve changed my mindset and I have a receptive heart. This means that while I go about my day I am open and expectant for God to speak and guide me. I could be cooking and have some worship music on. I listen to sermons on the go all the time. While doing chores at home or running errands. And sis! God speaks! I might have an issue or worry that comes up during the day, instead of panicking, I’ll say a prayer and commit it to God. He becomes that bestie who is always around and who knows all your secrets and you know His.
Last but not the least
Finally, the third thing I do to spend more time with God is to involve my friends. My girlfriends are the best honestly. They are strong prayer warrior women who love love love Jesus. So, we hold each other up in our walk with Christ. The three of us have a monthly prayer session over zoom where we pray for our kids and husbands and we share the Word. Once in a while we bring the husbands in. Mind you, it’s not always easy to schedule. Nevertheless, it’s something I look forward to every month, because I always feel so rejuvenated and refreshed after. I feel like I can conquer anything after those prayers.

I also have a weekly call with a big sis of mine, she’s become my spiritual gauge. We’ve spent so much time together learning the Word, praying, sharing our mental health struggles that we immediately know when there is something off with each other. Mamas, you need a friend or sister like this. Someone who will not only keep you accountable but will back you up in prayer. Who will study the word with you and encourage you.
That’s it friends. Three simple things you can start tomorrow.
- Weekly devotional
- Pray, worship, praise as you go about your day and,
- Lean on your friends and family
I hope this has been super helpful. See you in the next one.
