I am so proud of my sisters in this video.
In as much as they have amazing answers to the question “What does self-care mean to me?”. I know first hand, how difficult it is practicing it with children in tow.
What I hope we all take from this experience is that self-care is not optional. It is something we HAVE to do to be strong mothers, mentally, physically, spiritually, financially, socially and so on. It is interesting how most of us gravitate to a definition of self-care that is taking care of our physical health. So you’ll hear a lot of “going for a walk”, “breakfast on my own”, “getting my hair done”, “working out and eating right”. However, self-care is also making a deliberate effort to take care of your spiritual, mental and emotional health.
I want you to make a commitment, that from today you will take 10 minutes every day. Yes! 10 minutes at the very least to take care of you. It can be anything. If you are lost for ideas read my post “How to practice self-care as an exhausted mum” here. Let me know in the comments if you took on this challenge and what you did. I am sure all the mamas would love to know.
